I purchased all the SB and SL from Sun Aviation in Vero Beach. So if it doesn't work out, I can remove it w xylene or the like. I know those guys get really good results. He was very forthcoming with info when I spoke to him. Your riggers look like the ones on the Showboat video's, and they ended up looking new. But the point is they are still looking great with just regular boat soap and no waxing. Granted, mine already were almost new when I did the job, and only needed a Soft Scrub/Dawn application before I coated them. I did my outriggers 4 years ago, and they look as new. See their website for the application process. Next step is to clean the finish up using Dawn (neutralizes the surface for the coating to adhere to the aluminum), and then follow up with Showboat Custom Coating (ceramic coating). You are on the right track with the wet sanding work you have already done. Yes colonite wax is a great product when applied to good condition alum outriggers. Interesting not sure who read the article I posted as their is a couple of options that will greatly improve the shine and last for several years maybe more. We also use the insulator wax to seal and protect clear enclosures as well (strataglass and EZ2CY). Those are the products everyone down here uses to polish and seal stainless steel on yachts. Besides you're spending $40 in materials, and if those two don't work. C6 Corvette ZR1 & Z06 - What do you use to polish chrome aluminum wheels - :lurk::toetap. I honestly have had impressive results with Collinite metal wax, followed by Collinite insulator wax to seal them on outriggers that were heavily oxidized and would try that result first. When I go to the gulf coast ,it doesent stain,guess the water is cleaner,maybe its the salt I once waxed my transom with the Meguiars ntx wax ,it made it worse. That being said, I would absolutely not sand the anodizing off unless metal wax does not do adequate results. You could also have them re-anodized but this would probably be cost prohibitive. The finish would last a few years and then the finish would fail and then everything would start oxidizing. I would probably use clear Awlgrip if going this route as Awlgrip does not recommend or require waxing. I think a company still does it, and yes they would clear coat the aluminum with a clear eurethane.
